Forschungszentrum Jülich

Institute of Bio- and Geosciences: IBG-1 Biotechnology

The Institute of Bio- and Geosciences (IBG-1:Biotechnology) of the Forschungszentrum Jülich is concerned with cutting edge research in industrial bio-process development with biocatalysts and micro organisms. A major focus is put on the precise in vivo quantification of intra cellular resources and processes by multi-omics technologies.
In a rigorous systems biology approach, the obtained data is used for building predictive mathematical models focusing on industrial engineering targets. The developed tools are applied to speed up developments in synthetic biology including biotransformations.
