The department of microbiology is part of the Campus Center of Food and Life Sciences, Land Use and Environment in Weihenstephan at the Technische Universität München (Technical University of Munich, one of the highest acclaimed universities in Germany) where the aim is to focus on future-orientated sustainable fields that form the centre of 21st century scientific interests. The research at the department is multidisciplinary and internationally oriented, ranging from advanced biochemistry, genomics, microarray technology, taxonomy, phylogeny, bioinformatics, geomicrobiology, molecular ecology to various applications in white and environmental biotechnology.
