TU Berlin

Technische Chemie / Institut für Enzymtechnologie

The Department of Enzyme Technology was founded in August 2006 as a part of the Institute of Chemistry (Section Technical Chemistry) at the TU Berlin. Research and teaching covers the interdisciplinary field of the technical use of biocatalysts for organic synthesis, which is rapidly gaining importance in chemical industry. As such, the Department of Enzyme Technology is an active part of the Cluster of Excellence “Unifying Concepts in Catalysis” (UniCat) and forms a connection to biotechnological and process engineering groups inside and outside Berlin. A particularly close relation exists to the Research Training Network “Biocatalysis in non-conventional media” (GRK 1166 “Bionoco”) at RWTH Aachen University, and the institutes of RWTH Aachen University, Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf, and Research Center Jülich participating therein.
