Umea University - The Laboratory for Molecular Infection Medicine Sweden (MIMS)

The laboratory for Molecular Infection Medicine (MIMS, www.mims.umu.se) was established in 2007 as a partner institution of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (www.embl.org) together with the new Nordic nodes for molecular medicine in Finland and Norway.

The aim of MIMS is to strengthen Swedish research and enhance the dynamics in the field of molecular medicine, partly by promoting the career opportunities for young scientists. MIMS is established within the Umeå Centre for Microbial Research (UCMR, www.ucmr.umu.se) that includes researchers active in the fields of molecular and clinical microbiology, molecular biology, chemistry and physics and is closely connected to the university hospital.

Umeå University - with its 33,500 students and over 4,200 employees - is an organisation in constant change and development. Umeå University conducts groundbreaking research within several areas - several in which we are among the best in the world - within others regarded as the leaders in Sweden. We are one of Sweden’s largest providers of education and offer a broad and attractive range of courses and programmes. Our campus constitutes an inspiring environment for everyone that studies and works here. We wish to co-operate with companies and organisations throughout the Umeå region and all over the world.
