Laboratory for Molecular and Cellular Systems

The Laboratory for Molecular and Cellular Systems investigates the molecular mechanisms underlying cytoskeletal changes during neuronal growth, differentiation and plasticity. It focuses on the integration of signals by multi-molecular signaling complexes and membrane-localized regulatory circuits.

The lab also has an interest in the extension of these physiological responses in various forms of human neurodegenerative disease.

For these questions, the MCS develops and applies advanced optical biosensors for cellular events, data analaysis tools and imaging instrumentation - in particular FRET microscopy and Lifetime imaging (FLIM) solutions.
