Ph.D. positions in Immunology, Department of Biochemistry,
University of Lausanne

Two doctoral positions are available as of 01.08.2012 in the group of Prof. G. Guarda at the Department of Biochemistry of the University of Lausanne. We are interested in understanding the function of selected pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) expressed by T lymphocytes. In fact, these receptors, which are essential for early detection of infections, are well expressed and studied in innate immune cells. However certain PRRs are highly expressed, but negligibly characterized in adaptive T lymphocytes.
The aim of this research is to gain insights into the relevance of PRR expression in T lymphocytes and to further understand how this knowledge could be utilized for developing novel therapeutic approaches. For more details, please visit also our website (http://www.unil.ch/ib/page90151.html).

Qualifications and requirements:

- Master (or equivalent degree) in biology or in fields related to Immunology, or Graduation from medical school
- Experience in basic technologies of cellular and molecular biology
- Good knowledge of spoken and written English

Please send your application including CV and letter of motivation to Greta.Guarda@unil.ch. Please note that the deadline for applying to the PhD Program in Cancer and Immunology at the University of Lausanne is May 15th 2012.
