The Position
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join the Drug Discover Science CMC group in Biberach. The Biberach campus includes a thriving community of postdocs and PhD students.
The primary responsibility of this position is to develop and establish new technologies for intravitreal drug delivery of New Chemical Entities (NCEs). You will help to foster a collaborative research environment that facilitates exchange of knowledge and ideas. Your research will be focused on scientific, practical and project specific questions and new methodologies that align with the goals of the department and contribute to Boehringer-Ingelheim’s innovative and growing pipeline.
This position is limited for 2 years.

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- In you new role, you will develop extended-release formulations for intravitreal application of NCEs.
- Moreover, you will be responsible for analytical characterization of these formulations including dissolution testing and particle characterization.
- With your expertise, you will prepare the usage of these formulations for in-vivo studies in animals.
- Furthermore, you will screen for new concepts for intravitreal extended-release formulations and actively support research project teams.
- Additionally, you will support the interface to other disciplines such as DMPK, pharmacology, pharmaceutical development, toxicology, and medicinal chemistry.
- You will also strongly contribute to the scientific society by publications and presentations.
REQUIREMENTS
- PhD degree in pharmaceutics, chemistry, or related disciplines with extensive publication record
- In-depth knowledge in formulation techniques for extended-release and long-acting injectables (e.g., spray-drying) and analytical characterization of extended-release formulations
- Knowledge and experience with intravitreal drug delivery, especially for extended-release formulations
- Knowledge of NCE Research and/or early Development is a plus
- Ability to think creatively and critically with strong strategic planning
- Ability to independently conduct novel research, from conceptualization to optimization to implementation
- Exceptional writing, presentation, and communication skills
- Fluent in English written and spoken
