Overview
We are currently seeking a
Scientist Human Sample Management* to strengthen our Target Bioanalytics department. You will work in Tübingen (Germany) in an interdisciplinary environment with colleagues from Germany and the US (Houston, TX). Your analytical reasoning and action-oriented style as well as your organization and communication skills will contribute to the team’s success.
Your mission
Your main responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following tasks:
- Selection of suitable human tissue samples based on pre-defined scientific criteria for the characterization and validation of our targets
- Extensive communication with commercial and academic biobanks to coordinate acquisition of human tissues in an ethically and legally compliant manner
- Diligent maintenance of overviews of acquired samples and sample-associated metadata in our database and sample trackers
- Organize and participate in team meetings to discuss sample requirements for target validation activities and to support the establishment of companion diagnostic methods
- Expansion of our existing network of commercial and academic biobank partners: Identification of new potential leads and driving the establishment of new long-lasting collaborations as well as managing and nourishing the existing ones
- In close collaboration with our Bioinformatics department, active engagement in:
- Optimization of tissue sample representation and development of new tissue sample-related concepts in our database
- Optimization of the hierarchical structure of clinically relevant terminology defining the classification of tissue samples in our database
- Design of database queries for efficient output of a subset of tissue samples for various projects
- Management of clinical trial samples by coordinating sample receipt, storage and by performing GCP compliant documentation
- Preparation of ethics applications for academic collaborations and designing of master service agreements with commercial tissue vendors
Your profile
You hold an MSc degree (with the relevant industry experience) or PhD degree in Life Sciences or have been comparably educated, and you have proven your scientific excellence. You have in-depth knowledge of human anatomy and histology or have already worked with various types of human tissues. Knowledge of immunology and/ or oncology is an advantage. You have managed multiple projects in parallel. Your excellent communication skills in English enable you to successfully contribute to interdisciplinary projects (knowledge of German is a plus). Your multitasking abilities and time management skills help you work with the highest degree of efficiency. Accurate documentation of workflows and results is of highest importance to you.
