PhD position / Junior Research Associate (all genders) in the field of Nephrology
Activities and responsibilities
Our research group investigates various kidney diseases, with a particular focus on glomerular damage and the resulting conditions that can lead to chronic kidney failure. This project explores approaches for cell-specific gene therapy in the glomerulus using adeno-associated viral vectors (AAV).
In this project, we will utilize available tools to modify the AAV capsid surface e.g. by displaying single-domain antibodies. This strategy aims to improve the specificity and efficiency of transgene delivery to glomerular cells. The AAVs generated in this project will be used for the for the targeted delivery of therapeutic genes, with the aim of treating glomerular diseases such as glomerulonephritis by modulating inflammatory processes.
This position is part of our graduate program within the Collaborative Research Center SFB1192. The research group is international and interdisciplinary. The working environment is state-of-the-art and located on the newly opened Campus Research II.
