PhD position (male/female)
The PhD position is available for a three year fixed-term starting July 1st 2016.

The salary will be remunerated with TV-L E13 (50%).

Task Description:
Qualification and collaboration within the third party financed project “FitCow”: Essential fatty acids and conjugated linoleic acids within the milk as bio-indicators for animal health in dairy cattle. The applicant is supposed to examine within this project the effects of fatty acid supply on reproductive parameters. Gene expression profiling of hormone producing follicular cells and assessment of oocyte maturation and competence will be in focus.

We are looking for a candidate with a degree in life science or veterinary medicine. The successful candidate should have basic knowledge in reproductive physiology, cell culture and molecular biological techniques. The appointee is expected be prepared to learn clinical and biochemical methods as well as reproductive in vitro techniques like IVM, IVF etc. He/she should show dedication and should be a team player. Working languages are English and German.
The Leibniz Institute for Farm Animal Biology (FBN) is a foundation under public law and member of the Leibniz Association. The Institute with about 300 employees is performing fundamental and applied research in the field of the biology of farm animals. The Institute provides an interdisciplinary research environment and excellent experimental and analytical facilities.
