Within the team of Professor Fernand Anton we are performing neurobiological studies on the effects of stress and altered stress hormone levels on pain sensitivity. The methods used in the lab include molecular biological, electrophysiological and behavioural approaches.
The mission of the laboratory technician will be to carry out Protein and RNA extraction, Western blotting, qPCR, ELISA, cryosectioning, immunohistochemistry, microscopic analysis of stained sections. He/she will be responsible for the handling of rodents, participate in the conduction of experiments, including behavioural and electrophysiological tests, collect, record, analyze and present data and will take part in all aspects related to the publication of the research. Further duties are general lab maintenance such as preparation of solutions, cleaning of glassware, obtaining product information, keeping data bases up to date and to oversee equipment maintenance. The Laboratory technician supports the research environment (e.g. security, research ethics, quality)

  • Bachelor/Master in Biology or equivalent by relevant professional laboratory education and experience in the field of Biology / Medicine
  • Proven technical experience in cellular and molecular biological methods and microscopy
  • Very good skills in animal handling
  • Open and eager to learn new technologies, methods and relevant developments in the field
  • Inquisitiveness, commitment, accuracy and creativity
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • Reliable team player, also in multidisciplinary and multicultural environment
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, working knowledge in German and/or French is an advantage
