Ph.D. students in natural sciences (male/female)

The Collaborative Research Center Renoprotection (CRC 1365) is funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, Spokesperson: Prof. Dr. Pontus Persson, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin) and aims to identify and target common pathways to kidney failure. Our interdisciplinary network involves internists, surgeons, physiologists, pharmacologists, molecular biologists, geneticists, physicists, anatomists, and radiologists. We will perform basic research on isolated cells, tissue preparations, and animal models including yeast, zebrafish, rodents, and genetically engineered swine, and translate the outcomes to patient care. Our vision is to reduce the burden of kidney disease by establishing a comprehensive, interdisciplinary network to foster tailored therapeutic strategies aiming at the shared routes to chronic kidney disease. For the initiation of the CRC in early 2019, we seek highly motivated and talented junior researchers and research assistants to complement our team. Activities and responsibilities

Computational biology. You will perform and develop structural equation modeling / Bayesian network analysis and carry out statistical analysis / data visualization in the microbiome field.

Qualification profile

  • Degree in the field of natural sciences (master, diploma or equivalent)
  • Marked interest in basic research
  • Experience in life science techniques
  • Appreciating interdisciplinary cooperation with national and international cooperation partners
  • To value working independently as well as being part of an interdisciplinary research group
  • Speaking and writing in German and English without effort
