Neuropsychopharmacology is a newly established laboratory, fully funded and well equipped, performing cutting-edge neurophysiology (Video/EEG radio telemetry, slice electrophysiology with Multi Electrodes Arrays, Auditory Brain Response recordings, animal behavior and neuro-molecular biology).

The research focus of our group is on the electrophysiological role of various voltage-gated Ca2+ channels and in Alzheimer’s disease, Schizophrenia and Epilepsy. The ongoing experimental projects are aimed at further defining and understanding neurological diseases by electrophysiological methods.

In that context we offer a Master’s thesis student position for investigating the impact of chronic nicotine treatment on hippocampal oscillatory activity. The rhythmical interdependence of both hippocampus and motor cortex would be study by Video/EEG radio telemetry in a G72 transgenic schizophrenia mouse model. The project is in co-operation with Prof. Andreas Zimmer, Life & Brain, University Bonn. The position is available in November 2014.
