The Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) is be a highly interdisciplinary research centre, integrating experimental biological, medical and computational biology approaches in order to develop the foundation of a future predictive, preventive and personalized medicine.
In the frame of a knowledge transfer project the LCSB is seeking to appoint a

Science Project Manager for Bioinformatics Alliance and Translational Medicine (m/f)
  • Ref. I1R-MED-COM-110000
  • Fixed-term contract for 2 years
  • Employee status, part-time employment possible (80-100%)
Your role:
  • operational support to projects in the framework of the clinical research and basic research areas (chronic inflammatory and metabolic diseases) Project designing, planning and writing scientific project proposals (grant writing)
  • Project coordination, preparing progress documents and analyze results for delivering progress reports, troubleshooting problem areas
  • Prepare scientific communications of results (posters, talks and manucripts)
  • Provide bioinformatics support to experimental and clinical research projects
    • Management of large-scale clinical and phenotypic data including curating, cleaning and analyzing of de-identified data from internal and external collaborators and datasets obtaing from cohorts or clinical trials
    • Mining for clinical, phenotypic and high throughput data in published and publicy available sources
    • Conduct data analyses including mining and processing of phenotypic datasets for associations studies with genetic analyses
    • Development of algorithm development for the above mentioned analyses, development of data models, text mining, data warehousing and implementation of GUI such as tranSMART, or other software
    • Coordination and collaboration with internal and external collaborators
  • Participate in Molecular Biology tasks as appropriate (re-sequencing, scientific input for validation studies in vivo and in vitro, documentation of animal protocols)
    • Re-sequencing in family genomics studies
    • Provide scientific input for validation studies in vivo and in vitro
    • Planning of animal studies and preparation of protocols
    • Basic laboratory maintenance support

    Your profile:
    • University degree (Masters) in natural sciences, training in bioinformatics and biology, preferably with knowledge in clinical Research or the willingness to acquire such knowledge (diseases areas: metabolic, inflammatory and vascular diseases; oncology)
    • Bioinformatics experience with porcessing and analyzing of high thoughput data including microarrays, RNAseq, genomics (metabolomics); programming skills (algorithm development, R pgramming skills, text mining etc)
    • Experience in research management, internet knowledge mining, and scientific writing (grants and manuscripts) desired.
    • Experience of working independently and in a team-orientated, collaborative environment
    • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills, excellent interpersonal skills and strong communication skills are required.
    • Ability to adapt and effectively organise, prioritise and execute tasks in a highly dynamic environment.
