for the International Max Planck Research School for
Environmental, Cellular and Molecular Microbiology
The International Max Planck Research School for Environmental, Cellular and Molecular Microbiology (IMPRS-Mic) invites applications for a full time position as scientific coordinator. IMPRS-Mic is a graduate school that runs a 3-year structured training program for PhD students. The School is a joint initiative of the Max Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology and Philipps Universität Marburg. For more information, please see http://imprs-microbiology.mpg.de.
Job description:
The responsibility of the scientific coordinator is to
• plan and organize the training program (lectures, workshops and seminars) of the graduate school,
• organize social events,
• continually develop the training program,
• coordinate the IMPRS-Mic application procedure including announcements and selection of students and
• provide administrative support to IMPRS-Mic students.
Applicants are expected to hold a PhD degree or equivalent, and may have received additional training as postdoctoral fellows. Preference will be given to applicants who hold a graduate degree in life/natural sciences and have international experience in education and research. We seek an enthusiastic, self-motivated person who works in a structured manner and has excellent communication and organizational skills. Experience working in a multinational environment is advantageous. The coordinator must be fluent in spoken and written English and interested in research and science education.
The IMPRS-Mic office is located at the MPI for Terrestrial Microbiology (http://www.mpi-marburg.mpg.de/), which consists of four departments and several department-independent research groups and offers a stimulating, interdisciplinary and international research environment. Currently approximately 80 students are enrolled in IMPRS-Mic. The daily language in IMPRS-Mic is English.
Salary is according to TVöD at level E13. The position is initially limited to two years but can be extended depending on performance.
