The Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics is an international research institute with approximately 250 employees, working in the field of medical genomics. A special focus lies on the genome analysis of man and other organisms.

PhD position

is available immediately.
 
The research interest of our group is based in the field of mitochondrial pathologies. Furthermore, we provide MS service for the entire Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics. Primary objectives for the candidate (f/m) include, but are not limited to: quantitative proteome and metabolome profiling of mitochondrial disorders.
 
Qualifications:
The applicant (f/m) should hold a master’s degree/diploma in biology, biochemistry or a related field. The applicant (f/m) must show strong written and oral communication skills and a substantial interest in mass spectrometry. Expertise and hands-on experience, i.e., in quantitative mass spectrometry (nano-LC-MS/MS) with additional experience in sample preparation for proteomics and metabolomics, bioinformatics and cell culture techniques are highly desirable.
Candidates (f/m) with additional experience in the mitochondrial field will be given preference.  Responsibilities will include development and execution of experiments, data analysis, manuscript preparation, presentation of results, and working with collaborators and other members of the research team.
 
The position is limited to two years with the possibility of prolongation.
