PhD Position- Aging and Stem Cells

One PhD position is available in the group of Andreas Wodarz at the Cologne Cluster of Excellence - Cellular Stress Responses in Aging-associated Diseases (CECAD). The project focuses on the roles of several newly identified genes in aging and stem cells using Drosophila melanogaster as a model organism. It is an interdisciplinary project that draws from the fields of classical genetics, molecular biology and new-age technologies such as transcriptomics and proteomics. 
 
About: The CECAD of the German Research Foundation is jointly supported by the Faculties of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and Medicine of the University of Cologne and is partnered by the Max-Planck Institute for the Biology of Aging.

Requirements:
  • A Masters’ or Diploma in Biological Sciences or related fields; experience with Drosophila is desired but not essential.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team.
  • Enthusiasm and motivation for research, science and society.
 
Expected Start Date: April 2015
