The Hannover Medical School, the Clinic of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Endocrinology, is currently offering a position for a PhD Student for a research project funded by the German Research Foundation.

Genetically engineered mouse models (GEMMs) are powerful tools for the functional annotation of the cancer genome. However, in order to introduce genetic alterations into these models, multi-allelic mice need to be generated by traditional breeding, a process that is both time-consuming and expensive.
We have established a novel and highly flexible mouse model of pancreatic cancer that overcomes this limitation and facilitates a more rapid evaluation of defined genetic alterations in pancreatic cancer development using regulatable RNAinterference- technology (Saborowski et al., Genes Dev 2014) in life mice.
We plan to use this technology to identify and functionally characterize putative cancer genes for their role in pancreatic cancer development, microenvironment and maintenance.

The successful candidate is expected to hold a Master’s degree/diploma in molecular biology, biochemistry, biology or related fields, is highly motivated and willing to work in a competitive research field as a member of an international and multidisciplinary team.
