PhD position in Molecular Biology - Quantitative proteomics in epigenetics and RNA biology

In the field of  “Quantitative proteomics in epigenetics and RNA biology” the research group of Dr. Falk Butter offers the following PhD project:

Dynamic interactomics during development and stem cell differentiation


Chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) is a central technique in genomics and epigenomics to characterize transcription factor binding sites or histone modification pattern. This approach can also be adapted to identify proteins binding to genomic regions in vivo.
You will establish this technique using sequence-specific DNA-binding proteins in our laboratory. The project requires skills in molecular biology and biochemistry. Afterwards you will apply ChIP coupled proteomics to study the changes in the interactome of selected genomic regions like the promoters of pluripotency genes during stem cell differentiation or enhancer elements during embryonic development. Targets may include other genomic regions of interest in diverse model species. Previous experience in mass spectrometry is not essential for this project as training will be provided.
Furthermore, you have the opportunity for exciting scientific collaborations within the IMB and around the world employing quantitative mass spectrometry in biological research fields such as telomere biology, gene regulation, genome stability and epigenetics.
