Applications are invited for a PhD student position in the field of cancer and the cell cycle at the Biocenter, University of Wuerzburg, Germany
Our group studies the DREAM multiprotein complex that plays an important role transcriptional regulation of the cell cycle. Key target genes of DREAM regulate mitosis and cytokinesis and are often overexpressed in tumor cells. They are potential novel therapeutic targets for anti-cancer therapy.
The project will address the role of DREAM target genes in normal cells and tumor cells with a focus on lung cancer. In our research we use state of the art technologies such as lentiviral RNA interference, chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) and advanced animal tumor models.
The PhD student will be part of the Graduate School of Life Science (GSLS), which offers interdisciplinary practical training, summer schools and retreats, mentoring by a thesis committee of three experts in the field, and a highly stimulating research environment.
We are looking for a highly motivated PhD student with a background in biochemistry, cell biology or molecular biology.
