PhD position Membrane Proteins

At the Institute of Biochemistry, Goethe University Frankfurt, Germany, there is an opening for a Postdoctoral Position and a PhD Position (E13 TV-G-U, fulltime and 65%, respectively). Both positions are available from July, 2015, and the initial appointment of the Postdoc position is for 2 years, with an option of extension. Frankfurt University is committed to equal opportunities and selection on merit. Female candidates are especially encouraged to apply. Precedence will be given to handicapped candidates at equal qualification.

In a joint project between the Tampé and Pos Labs at the Institute of Biochemistry (www.biochem.uni-frankfurt.de), Goethe University Frankfurt, Germany, funded by the Cluster of Excellence for Macromolecular Complexes, we have an open Post-doc position for the reconstitution of membrane protein complexes in membranes on a nanopore chip. The goal is to visualize transport of substrates at a single assembly level. This challenging project is need of candidates with strong biochemical skills for membrane protein purification and reconstitution. The post-doctoral candidate is required to have multiple years of experience in membrane protein complex purification and reconstitution into liposomes and should be well accustomed to transport assays using labeled dyes and/or isotope labeled substrates.

The planned research will be done in a highly stimulating and well-equipped research environment, integrated in the life science campus Riedberg with its exceptional expertise and interest in macromolecular (membrane and soluble) complexes as well as with a group of researchers with a focus on structure and function of transport complexes of high medical relevance.

If you are highly motivated and particularly interested in developing new approaches for reconstitution and single molecule analysis of large membrane protein complexes, submit your CV and further information (list of publications, contact of three referees, etc.) per e-mail to: application@biochem.uni-frankfurt.de; Prof. Dr. R. Tampé or Prof. Dr. K. M. Pos, Institute of Biochemistry, Goethe University Frankfurt
