Emmy Noether Research Group invites applications
for a PhD position to study
“Spatio-temporal regulation of protein complexes by ATG8 proteins”
We aim to understand the role of the ubiquitin-like ATG8 proteins as reversible, membrane-bound scaffolds that help organizing protein and protein complexes spatially to control cellular pathways other than autophagy. This project is part of a collaborative initiative including disciplines ranging from structural biology, biochemistry, proteomics and cell biology.
We are seeking for outstanding and ambitious candidates with a background in biochemistry, cell and molecular biology with a keen interest in systematic and functional analyses of protein complexes. The lab employs a broad range of conventional techniques and cutting-edge approaches ranging from tissue-cell culture and bacterial expression via mass-spectrometry-based proteomics to high-content image-based RNAi screens. This multidisciplinary setting provides excellent training opportunities in a young, international and dynamic research team within the scientific stimulating environment of the Institute of Biochemistry II and the Medical School of the Goethe University. The positions can be filled immediately and is funded by the Cluster of Excellence Frankfurt Molecular Complexes (http://www.cef-mc.de).
Applications of women are specifically invited. In the case of equal qualifications, competence, and specific achievements, women will be considered on preferential terms within the framework of the legal possibilities. The Goethe University is committed to give preference to handicapped candidates with equivalent qualifications. The limitation of the contract is based upon the regulations of the “Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz” in conjunction with the “Hessischen Hochschulgesetz”. The position will be paid as stipend according to current DFG standards (http://www.dfg.de/formulare/2_22a/2_22a.pdf).
Formal applications including a concise description of research interests, CV and the names and contact details of two referees should be addressed to: Dr. Christian Behrends at behrends@biochem2.de
