The PhD position will be in the framework of the Epitarget Consortium (http://www.epitarget.eu). The research focus of our joint project will be on the characterization of candidate molecules for biomarkers and therapy targets for human focal epilepsies and translational studies to elucidate experimental therapeutic effects. We are conducting experimental studies on a multitude of levels of complexity including ‘Omics’ assays starting from epilepsy surgery brain tissue, in vitro and (viral transgenic) animal model approaches utilizing technologies in cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, histology as well as confocal imaging (e. g. Johnson et al., Nat Comm 2015; Kulbida et al., Brain Struct Funct 2014).
