For the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine we are looking for a

PhD student
(biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, or similar) to work in project C12 within the Collaborative Research Centre 656 “Cardiovascular Molecular Imaging”.
 Reference number 9252

Salary according to German TV-L13

The aim of the project is to investigate the behaviour and localization of mononuclear cell types in the post-ischaemic myocardium and their contribution to post-infarct healing, using a combination of ex-vivo cell analysis methods and in-vivo cellular and molecular imaging.

The prospective holder of the position will be working mainly the Dep. of Cardiovascular Medicine in close collaboration with the Dep. of Nuclear Medicine and the European Institute for Molecular Imaging (EIMI). Intensive collaboration within the Collaborative Research Centre, comprising researchers from the fields of medicine, chemistry, biology, physics, mathematics and computer scientists, is another main feature of the position. The departments offer a well-equipped, international working environment where talented and self-motivated students will find good opportunities to develop and pursue their personal scientific ideas.

Your profile:
You are an enthusiastic, ambitious scientist who is not afraid to work in a competitive field of research with a recent diploma or master degree in biology, biomedical sciences, biochemistry, biotechnology or a similar discipline. Experience with molecular and cell biological techniques and a special interest in cardiovascular research and preclinical animal models is a prerequisite. Previous experience in preclinical imaging would be welcome but is not a condition; a keen interest to learn these techniques is however necessary. Good communication skills and interest in different scientific fields are needed due to the interdisciplinary nature of the project.

The position is available immediately. The duration of the employment is up to three years.
Applications should include a current resume with academic transcripts and 3 professional references until 22.5.2015 to bewerbung@ukmuenster.de. For further information please contact Prof. Waltenberger (Chief of Cardiology, Dep. of Cardiovascular Medicine): Waltenberger@ukmuenster.de. Information about the collaborative research centre 656 can be found under www.sfbmobil.de.

Applications of women are specifically invited. In the case of similar qualifications, competence, and specific achievements, women will be considered on preferential terms within the frameworkof the legal possibilities. Handicapped candidates with equivalent qualifications will be given preference.
