PhD student - Hepatitis C Virus

Scientific Coworker  (PhD student)
is available starting from Feb. 1st, 2015, and limited to Dec. 31st, 2017. The position is granted by the project "Expression and function of miRNA-122 regulated lncRNAs and circRNAs during Hepatitis C Virus Infection“ in the LOEWE Research Center "Medical RNomics - RNA-regulated networks in human diseases" If in agreement with current regulations, the position is on the TV-H E13 scale (50 %) for public employees.
Your program:
Research in the above project, in particular molecular analysis of gene expression of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) and circular RNAs (circRNAs) during Hepatitis C Virus replication, as well as analysis of gene expression of the infected cells with various methods including Ribosome Profiling (Ingolia Protocol), NGS and microarray analyses. The work will also require handling of infectious viruses and of radioactivity. In addition to the work on the project, you can do a PhD.
Your profile:
We are seeking students with a Master's degree or Diploma in virology, biochemistry, molecular biology or closely related disciplines. Candidates should be experiences in handling RNA and viral genomes. You should have a strong interest in the analysis of non-coding RNAs and of NGS data.
