PhD student in Neurophysiology

Within the group of Prof. Dr. Christian Wahl-Schott / Prof. Dr. Martin Biel at the Department of Pharmacology for Natural Sciences, LMU Munich the position is available starting at the earliest possible date.

Our group is interested in the role of HCN channels and TPC channels in neuronal excitability and physiology. Since our discovery of HCN channels in the late nineties and the recent discovery of TPC channels we have extensively studied the function and regulation of these channels. We are seeking to dissect the specific role these channels and mutant channels in complex neuronal circuits under physiological and pathophysiological conditions.

Suitable candidates will hold a Master’s degree, diploma or equivalent in pharmacy, biology or other natural sciences. We look for highly motivated researchers with experience in neurophysiology or electrophysiology. The candidate should be well-organized, interested in independent research but also within a team environment. Fluency in English, good communication skills and capacity for teamwork are necessary.

We offer exciting research projects and excellent mentorship in an excellent scientific environment with good funding and technical equipment.

The contract conditions and the salary will be according to the collective labour agreement for public service employees of the federal states of Germany (TV-L E13/2).
