Project: Development of a VSV-based HIV vaccine

Supervisor: Dr. Janine Kimpel

The Division of Virology develops innovative viral vector vaccines based on the vesicular stomatitis virus. The aim of the PhD project will be to develop a VSV-based HIV vaccine. The project will involve working with mouse immunization models. Moreover, we are using a wide spectrum of immunology, cell and molecular biology methods.

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, team-oriented graduate, capable of independent working with a strong interest in immunology and virology. Candidates should have an excellent master/diploma degree in Life Sciences (e.g. in Biology, Molecular Medicine, Human Biology, Biochemistry or Pharmacy). Experience with immunology, cell culture techniques, mouse work or molecular biology techniques is advantageous.
Candidates should be willing to do mouse experiments.
