PhD Student Position in Molecular Cell Biology

We are looking for highly motivated candidates for a

PhD student position

available in the Institute for Molecular Biology, Medical Department of the University of Göttingen, Germany. The position is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) with the aim to better understand the biogenesis, functions and regulation of RNA-protein complexes (RNPs), their modulation by RNA helicases and the effects of mutations in disease.
The projects involve the use of a wide range of methods and technologies from the fields of Molecular Biology, Biochemistry and Cell Biology. We therefore seek excellent candidates with a Master in Biochemistry, Biology or related areas and experience in at least one of these fields (e.g. RNA-protein complexes, RNA helicases, RNA-protein interactions, regulation of gene expression, genome-wide expression analysis) and who are interested to work in a young and dynamic team. Programming skills would be advantageous (but are not required) for work on genome-wide protein-RNA interaction analyses.

In areas where women are underrepresented, the Georg-August-University especially encourages women to apply. Handicapped applicants with equal qualifications will be given preferential treatment. Note that this is a part time and fixed term position.

The position will be available from March/April 2015. Please send your application including your curriculum vitae, exam certificates and list of publications, a summary of your current scientific work and names of three academic referees by e-mail to

jobs@bohnsack-lab.com

Applications need to be received by January 19th, 2015. Only applicants selected for interview will be contacted, probably within about a week after the application deadline.
