Research Assistant

The Department of Natural Sciences at the University of Applied Sciences Bonn-Rhein-Sieg
is pleased to announce one

Research Assistant Position (PhD-student)
(part-time: 19,92 hours per week)

with the opportunity to perform a doctoral thesis. The position is available as of January 2015.

The work deals with personalised artificial bone transplants using human stem cell selected by HOX genes and differentiated towards osteoblast within new biomaterials containing encapsulated artificial ligands for specific P1 and P2 receptors.

The work encompasses:
  • Characterization of osteo-precommitted MSCs using the HOX gene pattern
  • Differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells into osteoblasts under the influence of artificial ligands for purinergic receptors
  • Optimizing cell growth with new biomaterials and stem cell differentiation with encapsulations of artificial ligand for specific P1 and P2 receptors
  • in vitro and in vivo angiogenesis and in vivo cell tracing
  • Working under GLP, GCP and GMP conditions
We expect:
  • Excellent knowledge in molecular and cell biology; experience in stem cell biology is of advantage
  • Operational readiness, initiative und ability to work in a team
  • Willingness to work also at our partners institutes (University of Heidelberg, University Clinic of Düsseldorf and Münster, Zellwerk GmbH, Berlin)
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language
