HTS Automation Senior Biologist (f/m)

The HDC team has a long history and proven experience in High-Throughput Screening (HTS) and Compound Management from their previous work at Altana/Nycomed/Takeda. HDC provides access to fully automated state-of-the-art screening stations designed to run biochemical and cell-based assays in 384 well format or 1536 well format, using a variety of detection technologies including luminescence, fluorescence, absorbance, HCS and radiometric readouts. Services are provided to the Life Sciences Industry and academic collaborators
 
In order to further strengthen HDC´s team, we are seeking for a senior scientist - HTS Automation biologist
 
Qualifications
  • PhD in Molecular Biology/Cell Biology/Biochemistry
  •  +5 years of relevant experience in assay design, execution and screening, preferably in industry and/or service oriented organisation.
  •  Experience in using liquid handling and automated screening stations
  • Specialized experience in development and analysis of High-Content-Screening assays is a plus
  • Experience in leading client projects. Analyze, summarize and interpret data and provide written and verbal updates to clients in timely manner.
  • Previous experience and strong working knowledge of in vitro detection technologies desired.
 
Competencies
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience and expertise in assay adaptation and high throughput screening in technical areas including, but not limited to, high content biology, reporter systems, ELISA, readioactive assays and all types of biochemical assays, both in 384-well and 1536 well formats
  • Familiarity with complex automation solutions
  • Hands-on experience with radioactive assays required
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Proficient in data analysis
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Highly organized, detail oriented project leader
 
The Position
  • Transfer screening assays to automation, run HTS campaigns and evaluate and report screening data to customers
  • Guide technical staff in matters related to assay transfer, screening and automation
  • Manage project teams to ensure that teams perform in terms with their respective plan objectives
  • Ensure proper communication with customers during all project phases
  • Support the automation team with handling of robotic devices
  • Support the management in writing project proposals
  • Support the management in financial controlling of project budgets
  • Support the management to maintain and extend lab infrastructures according to project requirements and company growth with appropriate scientific and operational standards
