The Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research (MPIPZ) invites applications for
Molecular-geneticist or plant biologist as Post-doctoral scientist (m/f)
The successful applicant will work in the context of a European Research Council funded project to study the evolution of the annual and perennial life cycles in plants. He/She will utilize existing genome sequences and genetic populations to identify genes that confer important aspects of the perennial life cycle.
The Post-doctoral scientist: will be a molecular-geneticist or plant biologist with an interest in studying developmental control of senescence patterns. The successful applicant will describe the phenotypic differences in senescence between sister annual and perennial species, study the contribution of candidate genes already identified in model species and work with the two other scientists to identify new candidates in the genetic populations or the genome information.
Applicant should have a PhD in an appropriate discipline and some experience in areas relevant to one of the positions. Ability to collaborate within an international group working towards a common goal is essential. The working language is English.  
The position is for 4 years and will be at an appropriate level on the TVÖD scale depending on experience.
