is available at the Institute of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology I, Prof. Andreas Reichert, Medical School, Heinrich-Heine University, Düsseldorf, Germany.
Our lab has just moved from the Buchmann Institute for Molecular Life Sciences, Goethe University, Frankfurt am Main, Germany to Düsseldorf. We are a highly motivated group interested in the molecular mechanisms determining mitochondrial cristae morphology. We are looking for a strong candidate that is interested in studying the MICOS complex in mammalian or yeast cells using biochemical and genetic methods, state-of-the-art fluorescence microscopy and electron microscopy.
Candidates must hold a PhD (or equivalent) in biochemistry, biophysics, biology, chemistry, or other closely related fields of the natural sciences. They must have a very strong background and extensive practical experience in at least one of the following fields: autophagy, membrane biology/biophysics, lipid biology, organelle biogenesis, protein biochemistry, mitochondrial biology. A strong interest for multidisciplinary research is required as well as a very good proficiency in writing and speaking of the English language. The candidate must have a high degree of practical experience in laboratory work and experimental design in biochemistry, biophysics, cell biology and molecular biology; a strong motivation to solve scientific problems; and very good capability and high willingness to work in a team.
The position is available starting from the next possible date (ideally Oct 1st 2014) and is initially limited for two years. Extensions and establishment of an independent research group is a possible future option.
