Postdoc in plant molecular/ membrane protein biology

Copenhagen Plant Science Centre (CPSC) at the Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences, Faculty of SCIENCE at University of Copenhagen is offering a postdoc position commencing 1 November 2014 or as soon as possible thereafter. The period of employment is 2 years with the possibility for a 1 year extension.

Project description
As postdoc located at the CPSC you will be driving a project with the aim to investigate the light-dependent plasticity of the chloroplast thylakoid ultrastructure and to dissect the underlying molecular processes. A major focus will be on the role of structure-bearing protein complexes and their dynamic regulation e.g. by reversible protein phosphorylation.

The project will be embedded in a highly competitive, stimulating and international research environment. Short research stays within laboratories of our collaborators inside or outside Denmark are envisioned.

Job description
In addition to conducting research, the postdoc will participate in meetings and conferences, assist the PI in grant applications, prepare manuscripts, supervise students and participate in teaching activities. The post may also include performance of other duties.

Qualification requirements
Successful candidates will have an excellent track record and will be highly motivated with a strong background in at least one of the following subjects: plant molecular biology/ protein biochemistry/ synthetic biology and/or protein analytics. A relevant background in LC-MS based (phospho)-proteomics will be beneficial.

Additionally a qualified applicant must have:
  • a PhD degree by the commencement of the project
  • proven ability to present and publish research data
  • excellent inter-personal and communication skills/ability to build good working relations
  • proficiency in spoken and written English.

Terms of employment
The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff.

Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.

The starting salary is currently up to DKK 403,682 including annual supplement (+ pension up to DKK 69,030). Negotiation for salary supplement is possible.
