Postdoc Position in CRISPR-Cas9 biology and genome engineering

The Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research has an opening for a
Postdoc Position in CRISPR-Cas9 biology and genome engineering
The department Regulation in Infection Biology (Prof. Emmanuelle Charpentier) at the Helmholtz Center for Infection Research in Braunschweig (Germany) is offering a Postdoc Position to investigate the biochemical mechanism of RNA-mediated CRISPR-Cas9 and further develop the system for targeted genome engineering in human cells. See our recent key publications in 2011 (Nature 471:602-607), 2012 (Science 337:816-821) and 2014 (Science 346:1258096).

Area of research

The Helmholtz department “Regulation in Infection Biology” studies molecular and cellular mechanisms of regulation in processes of infection and immunity in Gram-positive bacterial pathogens. The group has recently focused on the RNA-programmable CRISPR-Cas9 endonuclease and is currently investigating the biochemistry of the system and its applications in genome editing and regenerative medicine. The project will be conducted in cooperation with the biotech company CRISPR Therapeutics.
  • PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Microbiology, Immunology or related fields
  • Experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, cell biology and genome editing will be considered as an advantage. Particularly prior expertise in the fields of CRISPR-Cas9 biology and genome editing is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of international and multidisciplinary consortia.
  • Ability to multi-task and to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a highly competitive field of research.
  • A proven record of publications.
