Postdoctoral fellow position in the area of Computational Cancer Genomics
 
to be employed under a 2-year contract.
 
Embedded in a highly dynamic and competitive research environment with multiple national and international collaborations, our group is focused on understanding the molecular pathogenesis of pediatric malignancies, particularly neuroblastoma. To this end, we have generated a wealth of high-throughput molecular data of hundreds of samples, including massively parallel sequencing (genome, exome, and transcriptome sequencing), expression microarray and array-CGH data. Data analysis is being performed in close collaboration with the Computational Cancer Genomics group (head: Dr. Martin Peifer), Department of Translational Genomics, using advanced computational models. Our well-established research lab enables us to immediately evaluate hypotheses derived from computational analyses with a broad spectrum of experimental methods. In addition, we are tightly connected to the Department of Pediatric Oncology, allowing us to directly translate significant research findings into clinical practice.
 
Your responsibilities will include the development of novel concepts for the analysis of highly complex data sets in order to gain insight into cancer biology, and integration of big data in translational and clinical projects within an interdisciplinary research setup.
 
We are looking for a talented, ambitious and experienced computational biologist with a strong interest in cancer genomics and cancer biology. The position requires a PhD degree in a relevant field, such as physics, mathematics, cancer research, computational biology, bioinformatics or biostatistics. Profound experience in the computational/mathematical analysis of complex data sets as well as programming skills are mandatory. A genuine interest in cancer biology, good communication skills are required / desirable. The applicant should be capable of driving projects with a high degree of independence.
 
Your salary will be based on E14 (TV-L).
