Postdoctoral position in the field of insecticide research

Join our scientific team in a key position and find solutions to agricultural problems that affect people every day, from field to table. You will work in an interdisciplinary team on the identification and development of insecticides with potential for industrial application as plant protection products. Your work will include, but not limited to, designing, performing and evaluating research on chemical and biological insect control agents, repellents and other behavior-modifying chemicals. The identification and characterization of active substances are also part of your job as well as the publication of results and the supervision of doctoral students.


What we expect from you
  • You have successfully completed your studies with a PhD degree in the areas of entomology, biology, biochemistry or a comparable field
 
  • You have a specialized knowledge of chemical pesticides, repellents, biopesticides, and laboratory bioassay techniques, as well as experience in insect sampling and keeping are required
 
  • Knowledge and experience in insect physiology, molecular biology and experience with quarantine pests are also desired
 
  • You are an independent worker, analytical thinker and have a high degree of creativity
 
  • A good publication record is as self-evident as a very good knowledge of English, German is a plus
 
  • You like to work in a multicultural, highly motivated team and are characterized by your communication skills
 
  • You are enjoying the supervision of doctoral students and students

The project group "Bioresources", a member of the research network of the LOEWE center offers a varied and challenging work environment in a stimulating and interdisciplinary research environment with very good infrastructure and many industrial partners.

Appointment, remuneration and social security benefits based on the public-sector collective wage agreement (TVöD). Additionally Fraunhofer may grant performance-based variable remuneration components.
The working time consists of 39 hours per week.
The position is initially limited until 31.12.2016.
In case of identical qualifications, preference will be given to severely disabled candidates.
