Scientist as Bioimage Analyst (m/f)

The University of Konstanz, with its “Institutional Strategy to promote Top-Level Research” has been receiving continuous funding since 2007 within the framework of the Excellence Initiative by the German Federal and State Governments.
The Bioimaging Center at the University of Konstanz is a core facility for light microscopy and the coordinating institution of German BioImaging, the German national network of imaging core facilities.
Image processing and analysis are fundamental for extracting knowledge from advanced light microscopy data. Therefore, image data analysis tools are widely requested by users of imaging core facilities for their research work. With the project “BIN-BW” (BioImage NET-Baden Württemberg) we aim at supporting university imaging core facilities across Baden-Württem­berg with competence in microscopy image processing and data analysis.
To start "BIN-BW", the Bioimaging Center at the University of Konstanz is now hiring an

Bioimage Analyst

(Salary Scale 14 TV-L/100 %)
for an initial period of two years. In principle, this position can be divided into two half-time positions.
As the person responsible for implementing "BIN-BW" you will develop and apply image analysis tools for microscopy-based research, and elaborate a training program for microscopy users. You will be responsible for distrib­uting these tools to imaging core facilities at universities in Baden-Würt­temberg.
The successful candidate will be a highly motivated, proactive individual, who is able to work independently and is support-oriented. He/she will have programming skills in Java and Python and hold a Master Degree in a natu­ral science discipline, or in computer science with sufficient background knowledge in biology. A PhD degree is of advantage. Excellent teaching skills and a good command of the English language are essential. Candidates will cooperate closely with the German BioImaging workgroup “Image Analysis”, and travel regularly between imaging core facilities in Baden-Württemberg.
