The DFG-funded Research Training Group 2162 “Neurodevelopment and CNS vulnerability” at the Friedrich-Alexander Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany, offers a structured, international Ph.D. program in basic and translational neurobiology.
Our research focuses on understanding the impact of developmental processes on the vulnerability and resilience to neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative disease. We employ animal models and patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSC) to model the interaction of developmental processes and disease states by using state-of-the-art approaches in genomics, molecular & cell biology, biochemistry, electrophysiology, animal behavior, and imaging for analysis.
