The NanoCapture project is focused on developing selective delivery of nanomedicines to treat The NanoCapture project is focused on developing the selective delivery of nanomedicines to treat cancers. We are based at the Department of Pharmacy, LMU Munich embedded within Dr Thorn-Seshold’s research group. Recently, the NanoCapture team won the prestigious GO-Bio grant from German Federal Government - BMBF, to perform preclinical studies for our innovative approach and to move it towards a pharmaceutical use.
To strengthen our interdisciplinary team, we are looking for a postdoc specialist in tumor biology. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in tumor biology and pathology as well as in in vivo tumor mouse models. In addition, the candidate should have extensive knowledge on the tumor microenvironment and vasculature as well as of mechanisms of chemotherapy. She/he will be responsible for establishing and performing preclinical studies to characterize in detail the mode of action underlying the NanoCapture concept and to provide a proof of increased efficacy of our approach compared to conventional treatments.

Activities and responsibilities

Main responsibilities:
  • Establishing and performing in vivo tumor mouse model studies
  • Designing the key studies to understand the NanoCapture concept
  • Investigating changes in the tumor micro-environment and vasculature
  • Data interpretation, manuscript preparation (patent and publications)
  • Involvement in NanoCapture’s scientific strategy  

Qualification profile

Skills and Requirements:
  • PhD in an appropriate field
  • Proven record in tumor biology and pathology
  • Experience in development and preclinical evaluation of chemo- and nanotherapeutics
  • In-depth knowledge of state-of-the-art concepts of cancer therapy (chemo-, radio-and immunotherapy)
  • Professional experience in pharma/biotech industry is of advantage
  • Self-starter attitude, inventive problem solver comfortable to work independently and within a team
  • High proficiency in English and German language


You will join a truly interdisciplinary group working on a novel cancer therapy that can make a real-world impact. You will play a significant role in a small and dynamic team, while gaining experience in translational medicine and biotech. The position (TV-L) is available immediately, initially for two years with a possibility to renew.
