Doctoral position to study microbe-host interactions at the Institute for Molecular Infection Biology

Doctoral position to study microbe-host interactions

Our research group uses a combination of genomics, genetics, molecular biology and bioinformatics approaches to study the traits that allow the commensal yeast Candida albicans to inhabit the human body. Specific projects include the study of bacterial-fungal interactions that take place in the mammalian gut, colonization of mucosal surfaces by C. albicans and the elucidation of relevant gene regulatory networks.

The successful applicant will become part of Dr. J. Christian Perez’s group in the Institute for Molecular Infection Biology at the University of Würzburg starting in October 2016.

The successful applicants must have a Master’s degree and a strong foundation in at least one of our described areas of interest. Demonstrated experience with mouse models of infection and analyzing RNA-seq and ChIP-seq data sets is highly desirable. Daily communication in the Institute is in English. Salary level is TV-L E13 65%.

Applications from suitably qualified people from all sections of the community regardless of race, gender or disability are welcome. Applications must include a letter describing research accomplishments and research interests, CV, and contact information of 2-3 academic references. Send your applications written in English as a single PDF file to Dr. Pérez (christian.perez@uni-wuerzburg.de) by July 18th, 2016.
