Helmholtz International Graduate School for Infection Research (GS-FIRE) - A three-year structured PhD program

PhD candidates will have the unique opportunity to undertake a PhD within a stimulating atmosphere within the interdisciplinary field of infection research in the research areas of NMR-based Structural Biology, Chemical Biology, Medicinal Chemistry, Immunology, Mathematical Modelling of Infection and Immunity and Mammalian Infection Genetics. Working on a three-year research project PhD candidates can select lectures and seminars, laboratory and soft-skills courses, join congresses, symposia and summer schools. The program is well supported by an intense network of PhD candidates and supervisors. PhD candidates will finish the program as highly qualified scientists. The three-year program is taught in English.

We expect
  • Highly motivated applicants
  • An above-average Master´s degree (or equivalent)
  • Applicants highly interested in at least one of the above indicated research fields
  • Laboratory experience and/or basic mathematical expertise, if applicable
  • Good written and spoken English skills
  • Intercultural communication skills
