PhD (f/m) - Therapeutic RNA Editing

- biochemists and comparable -
at the Interfaculty Institute of Biochemistry - University of Tübingen
The position is part of a larger ERC-funded project and is embedded in a graduate school. A part of the project could potentially be conducted in collaboration with a European industry partner outside of Germany. The University of Tübingen is one of the ten excellence universities in Germany. The Institute of Biochemistry offers a stimulating environment and access to state-of-the-art methods in Life Sciences.

Site-directed RNA editing represents a novel platform technology for the manipulation of genetic Information at the RNA-level. Together with other group members, the candidate has to transfer this new technology into application in medicine and basic biology. The project lies at the interface of bioengineering, biology, and medicine. She/he will have to learn and apply various methods including simple organic chemistry, biochemical RNA-assays, qPCR, NGS, mammalian cell culturing, virus production, and potentially animal experiments.

The candidate must hold a degree in biochemistry or comparable. Previous knowledge in molecular biology, cell culturing, or viral delivery might be advantageous. For our group, we expect highly motivated and creative persons dedicated to their work. The candidate must be able to interact confidently with academic and industrial partners and should be fluent in English. The candidate will get the opportunity to present her/his work on international conferences.
