PhD position (TV-L/50%)
The Evolutionary Genomics group at the Center of Computational and Theoretical Biology of the University Würzburg invites applications for a PhD position starting January 1, 2017, or earlier.
Research in the Evolutionary Genomics group is focused on understanding the molecular, genetic and genomic aspects of different plant traits and the question how evolution shaped these traits.
The project is part of a BMBF funded initiative „Accessing the genomic and functional diversity of maize to improve quantitative traits (MAZE)“.
The Research topic is the development of statistical methods for genomic prediction and the integration of higher-order interactions into these models.
The successful applicant is expected to have:
● Diploma or Master's degree in biology, bioinformatics, statistics, agricultural science or related disciplines.
● Strong interest in computational biology, statistics and the application of these to life science
● Knowledge in programming and statistical software (experience in R would be advantageous)
● Very good command of English
● Ability to collaborate with other research groups
