PhD position in Immunology

The new Research Group IMMUNREGULATION (Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Anne Dudeck)
invites applications for a
Expected starting date is September 1st 2016.
Research focus of the lab
The group studies the role of cellular communication processes in the regulation of acute and chronic inflammation. We are especially interested in intercellular interactions of tissue resident innate immune cells, i.e. mast cells, macrophages and dendritic cells, and their impact on the initiation of adaptive immunity, cell recruitment processes and tissue homeostasis.
Desired skills and experience
We are looking for highly self-motivated candidates with a very good Diploma or Master’s degree in the field biology, biomedicine, or related science. You should have a strong interest in the research area immunology/inflammation and very good team-working capabilities. Experience in molecular biology and cell biology methods (flow cytometry, ELISA, western blot, qualitative and quantitative PCR) is required.  Experience in animal work and tissue processing is preferable.
We offer
diverse and exciting work in a young research group that is primarily based on the combination of intravital multiphoton imaging of cellular processes in transgenic reporter mice with molecular and cell biology techniques. Our group is embedded in a high quality institute for molecular and clinical immunology including key technologies such as complex imaging resources. Additionally, our institute is linked to a variety of research networks which strengthen our profile as a center for the analysis of signaling pathways and of cell contacts within the immune system.

The contract will be limited to two years initially. The contract conditions and the salary will be according to the collective labor agreement for public service employees of the federal states of Germany (TV-L E13 50%).
Candidates are encouraged to send their application including CV, a short description of the master thesis, research experience and interests, and the contact details of two references until July 31st 2016 as a single-pdf document to Dr. Anne Dudeck (currently via e-mail to
