Postdoc in the field of molecular plant sciences/ phytopathology/biochemistry

The Chair of Phytopathology at the Technische Universität München Wissenschaftszentrum Weihenstephan hires a Postdoc in the field of molecular plant sciences/phytopathology/biochemistry for the project „Functions of lipopolysaccharide in plant-bacteria interactions“

The candidate will study the perception of bacterial cell wall lipopolysaccharide through the plant immune system and its influence on bacterial resistance of model and crop plants in frame of an Emmy-Noether project (German Research Foundation) in the group of Stefanie Ranf. This project combines plant biochemistry/pathology and microbiology, and offers a wide methodological spectrum in molecular biology, biochemistry and genetics in both fields.
The applicant must have a very good diploma/MSc and an excellent PhD in biology, biochemistry or biotechnology with a strong theoretic background and extensive hands-on experience documented through peer-reviewed publications. Knowledge and practical experience in molecular plant sciences (eg genetics, phytopathology, biochemistry) is desirable. We are looking for a highly motivated candidate who is able to plan and conduct research independently, works well in a team and has a strong interest in basic molecular plant sciences. Excellent English skills, both written and spoken, are essential.
We offer an international and scientifically stimulating surrounding with focus on basic molecular plant sciences. Furthermore, we aim to develop the basis for improvement of economically important crop plants in the future (see http://www.wzw.tum.de/pp/ and http://sfb924.wzw.tum.de/). The salary is according to German income level TV-L E13. For project-related reasons the employment contract is limited to three years.
The Technische Universität München wishes to increase the percentage of employed women. Women are therefore explicitly encouraged to apply. Handicapped persons with equivalent qualification will be given preference.

Please send your application inlcuding a letter of motivation (1-2 pages), your CV and list of publications, and names of 2 potential referees by email to: stefanie.ranf@wzw.tum.de

Applications will be accepted until the position is filled with a suitable candidate.
