Research fellow for Junior Research Group “iPS cells and neurodegenerative disease”

At TU Dresden, the Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden (CRTD), the Junior Research Group “iPS cells and neurodegenerative disease” is looking for, subject to granted funds, a
Research fellow
(Subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)
with a background in, and skilled at, the generation, editing, and differentiation of human induced pluripotent stem cells. The position will ideally start on 1 July 2016 and is a 3 years appointment with the option to be extended. The period of employment is governed by § 2 Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG).
Tasks: the successful candidate will perform gene targeting to generate iPSC-reporter lines, generate in vitro models of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and identify compounds ameliorating disease pathology.
Requirements: A suitable candidate must hold a university and a PhD degree in biology, developmental biology, neurobiology, or a similar field. Excellent cell culture skills and extensive experience with human pluripotent stem cells are essential. The candidate should have a good overview of the corresponding literature and be interested in an interdisciplinary and interactive work environment in the area of stem cell research, small molecule screening, neurodegeneration. Communication in English is essential since we offer an international working atmosphere at the CRTD and are participating in international projects. Experience with neuronal differentiation is preferred.
