Scientist as doctoral candidate in yeast metabolic engineering

The project you will be working on is aiming at the construction of a microbial production platform based on the methylotrophic yeast Ogataea polymorpha for the conversion of CO2-derived one-carbon compounds by exploiting the yeast`s native ability of methanol conversion.

You will work in a consortium of four academic partners spread all over Germany. The team at the iAMB will consist of two scientists (1 Ph.D. and 1 Postdoc)

Activities and responsibilities

Your job will involve methods from metabolic engineering and synthetic biology to generate strains able of metabolizing CO2-derived one carbon compounds into industrial relevant products.

Qualification profile

You have a Master's degree in a biological science and are interested in microbiological challenges. You know your way around biological labs and have worked with microbes before. Molecular biological methods are also in your repertoire. You enjoy working in a team and have the ability to motivate yourself.

We offer

We offer a three year employment with the possibility of obtaining a Ph.D. starting on February 1st, 2020. At the iAMB we value teamwork and are proud of our pleasant working atmosphere. The scientific work at the RWTH Aachen is happening in a highly interdisciplinary environment with many possibilities of collaborations. We also offer a participation at national and international conferences. The salary will be based on TV-L13 of which we are happy to offer 65%.
