About us
ZIEL is a central institute at the TU Munich, located at the Weihenstephan School of Life Science in Freising. You will be working at the Chair of Molecular Nutritional Medicine affiliated with ZIEL. We study the role of thermogenic brown adipocytes in energy balance regulation and aim to identify new regulators of mitochondrial respiration in human adipocytes. Your PhD project will be embedded at ZIEL in a collaborative research environment with well-equipped laboratories and a stimulating scientific atmosphere.

Your profile
We look for a highly motivated candidate with a Master of Science or equivalent who is eager to carry out a PhD project in academic research.

Your project: We have identified novel modulators of non-shivering thermogenesis in the laboratory mouse. The research project aims to validate and further characterize these modulators, and the receptors and signalling pathways in human adipocytes. Previous experience in mammalian cell culture, cell signalling, and biology of mitochondria is of advantage.

The Technical University of Munich is striving to increase the overall proportion of women on its staff and thus expressly urges qualified women to apply. Handicapped, equally qualified candidates are preferred.
