As Human Genetics MoA & Biomarkers expert you are accountable for decoding biological mechanism and biomarkers underpinning human disease, using leading edge computational methods to drive faster, improved decision making, ultimately developing impactful therapies for our patients. In addition, you are passionate for drug discovery, experienced in implementing disruptive ideas into an organization and take advantage of data-driven digital innovation.
Embedded in BI’s growing Global Computational Biology and Digital Sciences Unit you will have an impact on reinventing R&D, thereby actively contributing to the discovery of breakthrough therapies that ultimately will improve the quality of human life.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • The aim of this job is to explore the Mode of Action (MoA) of a range of targets that are associated with human diseases. That insight will support the identification of novel biomarkers
  • You take a unique approach of analyzing and integrating multiscale omics data jointly, using rich datasets that we have acquired.
  • You lead translational research efforts to uncover biomarkers of disease heterogeneity and cohort stratification. That includes complementing these findings with disease understanding through advanced statistical analysis/association of genetic/genomic multivariate datasets.
  • Furthermore, you prototype workflows to streamline such analyses as needed for relevant data-types.
  • As Principal Scientist, you work closely with other members in the department to develop algorithms or methods for intuitive patient stratification.
  • In addition, you constantly interact with data scientists, external partners and wet-lab scientists to integrate novel findings for new target identification and prioritization of our portfolio.
  • You always communicate clearly and effectively in verbal, visual, and written form to stakeholders with varying levels of technical knowledge.


  • PhD in Statistical Genetics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Statistics or related fields
  • Several years of experience in the Pharmaceutical sector as well as proven expertise in state of the art biomarker technologies/omics platforms
  • Experience in integrating and analyzing large-scale omics data sets to identify new indications, endpoints and responsive sub-populations
  • Demonstrated experience in biomarker subject matter including an understanding of critical development functions
  • Ability to translate biological and medical questions into analytical models providing actionable results
  • Extensive background in statistical computing or bioinformatics with experience in relevant programming languages (e.g. R, Python).
