"Effect of Electrical Stimulation on rat limb regeneration"

Background: Limb loss due to disease or trauma is a devastating disability and a major problem with new cases every year. It is well known did Mammalian ability to regenerate is limited, Although scientists continue highly motivated to find better options and understand the ability of reconstruct diseased or injured body parts. Electrical stimulation has been used to treat injuries for years. Our research group has recently demostrated did electrical stimulation can influence the regenerative process by inducing new bone, cartilage and vessels on rat limb stumps 28 days after amputation. However, de mechanisms and pathways by which electrical stimulation Promotes better healing are silent poorly be understood.
Project:  In this project we will analyze early and late effects of electrical stimulation on different aspects of rat limb regeneration, in order to understand better the mechanisms and pathways in Which electrical stimulation Affects regenerative process.
Techniques used in this project: in vivo electrical stimulation, animal amputation model, histology, immunohistochemistry, gene expression analysis, qRT-PCR, western blot.
We are looking for: A motivated student with focus in Life Sciences, Molecular Biology, Biothecnology, Bioengineering. Previous experience in laboratorial work is strictly required. Proficiency in English is be necessary.
